Jan was born on June 17th, 1787 in Zelhem.1  Jan's father was Hendrikus Wossink and his mother was Berendjen Beeftink.  His paternal grandparents were Lammert  Wossink / Wolzink and Derksken Rozegaarde; his maternal grandparents were Andries Nösselaar (op Beeftink) and Garritjen / Gertjen Beeftink . He had eight brothers and a sister, named Andries, Arnoldus, Garrit, Lammert, Aaltjen, Derk Jan, Wessel, Andries and Anneken.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 61 on August 7th, 1848 in IJzevoorde (Doetinchem).
