Bernardina was born about 1780.  Bernardina's father was Hendricus Priesterink (of Grootwanninkhage) and her mother was Wesseltjen Klaapsink.  Her maternal grandparents were Lambert Claapsink and Geesken. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Hendrik, Garret, Aalbert, Gart, Lammertjen, Wesseltjen and Janna / Jannij.
