Evert Jan was born on July 1st, 1907 in IJzevoorde (Doetinchem).1  Evert Jan's father was Evert Jan Kip and his mother was Gerritje Capel.  His paternal grandparents were Evert Jan Kip and Wesselina Boesveld; his maternal grandparents were Arend Capel and Antonia Hamer. He had four sisters named Johanna, Aleida Antonia, Anna and Gerda.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
