Gerrit Jan was born on August 9th, 1879 in Langerak (Doetinchem).1  Gerrit Jan's father was Severinus (Sevrinus) Johannes Kempers and his mother was Elsken Weenk.  His paternal grandparents were Albert Kempers and Hendrika Bosboom; his maternal grandparents were Gerrit Jan Weenk and Johanna Abbink. He had a sister named Hendrika Johanna.  He was the younger of the two children. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Albertus Johannes, Gerrit Hendrik, Frederik, Herman, Bernardus, Marinus, Grada Hendrika, Maria Frederika and NN.  He died at the age of 39 on June 10th, 1919 in Zelhem, Netherlands.
