Willem was born on July 29th, 1804 in Doetinchem.1  Willem's father was Jacobus Jansen and his mother was Johanna Vinkenborg.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Jansen and Willemke Jansen; his maternal grandparents were Gerrit Jan Vinkenborg and Elsje/ Elsken Berendsen. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Harmen, Jan, Elisabeth, Elske, Gertjen, Jenneken, Aaltjen and Hendrika.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 33 on June 8th, 1838 in Ambt Doetinchem (Doetinchem).2
