Maria was born in 1736.  Maria's father was Derk Jan Hilferink and her mother was Jenneke  Jolink.  Her paternal grandparents were Derk Jan / Gosen Hilferink and Vrouw / Moeder; her maternal grandparents were Jan Jolinck (Joolinck) and Aaltjen. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named Henrik / Hendrik Jan, Berend, Willem, Gerrit Jan, Harmen, Gerrit Jan, Harmen, Liesken, Jenneken, Jenneken, Berendje and Derse.  She was the third oldest of the thirteen children.  She died at the age of 21 in 1757.
