Dirk was born in 1854 in Hoorn.  Dirk's father was Herman Pot and his mother was Guurtje Jongens. He had two sisters named Elisabeth and Trijntje.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 31 on April 22nd, 1885 in Hoorn.
