Impje was born about 1803 in Oosterleek.  Impje's father was Dirk Kool and her mother was Jantje Jacobs de Boer.  Her paternal grandparents were Jan Kool and Jantje Wijbrands; her maternal grandparents were Jacob de Boer and Immetje Klaas. She had two brothers named Jan and Klaas.  She was the second oldest of the three children.
