Petrus was born on March 1st, 1720 in Alkmaar.1  Petrus' father was Jan Jacobse Koeman and his mother was Antje Pieters Kage. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Gerardus, Jacobus, Gerardus, Theodorus, Catharina and Catharina.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
