Jacobus was born on September 12th, 1723 in Alkmaar.1  Jacobus' father was Jan Jacobse Koeman and his mother was Antje Pieters Kage. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Gerardus, Petrus, Gerardus, Theodorus, Catharina and Catharina.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
