Thamis was born on August 11th, 1799 in Beets.1  Thamis' father was Jan Tamisse / Tamis de Groot and his mother was Trijntje Jacobsdr Pijper.  His paternal grandparents were Tamis de Groot and Maartje Klerk / Clerck; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Eliasz Pijper and Duijfje Jacobs Heijn. He had four brothers named Jacob, Jacob, Klaas and Simon.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 25 on September 21st, 1824 in Beets.2
