John Green was born in March 1847 in Sussex, East Sussex, United Kingdom.1   John Green's father was John Green Brooks and his mother was Caroline Fleet.  His paternal grandfather is John Brooks; his maternal grandfather is Robert Fleet. He had a brother and four sisters, named James, Mary Jane, Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died after 1901.
