Amy was born on April 5th, 1882 in Penwortham, SA.1   Amy's father was James WHITING and her mother was Charlotte MEDLOW.  Her maternal grandparents were Samuel MEDLOW and Charlotte BOSTON. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Herbert, Edward, Albert, Stanley, Edith and Elsie.  She was the second oldest of the seven known children.
