Helen was born on December 9th, 1904 in Hyde Park, Unley, SA.1 Helen's father was Horace Henry SKEWES and her mother was Elizabeth Sarah Anthony MARTIN. Her paternal grandparents were James Michael SKEWES and Helen Maria BRADY; her maternal grandparents were James MARTIN and Elizabeth ANTHONY. She had three brothers named James, Henry and Horace. She was the oldest of the four children.-
