William was born in 1822.1   William's father was John POINTER and his mother was Mary EMERSON.  His paternal grandparents were Jeremiah POINTER and Christina GRAVENOR. He had two brothers named James and Jeremiah.  He was the second oldest of the three known children.  He died at the age of 64 in 1886.1
