Charles was born in 1878 in St Martins, Middlesex, England.1  Charles' father was Henry Adolphus HIGGINS and his mother was Jessie Maria CHARLTON.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Frederick HIGGINS and Ann HARRISON; his maternal grandparents were William CHARLTON and Hannah HEWETT. He had three brothers named Henry, Henry and Frederick.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named James, John, David and Jessie.  He died at the age of 60 on March 8th, 1938 in Albert Park, SA.2
