Edward's father was Edward Thomas BOWELS and his mother was Emmilean ASHBY.  His paternal grandparents were Edward BOWELS and Lavinia JURY. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Harold, Lillian, Dorathy and Margery.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 62 on May 9th, 1956 in Sefton Park, SA.²
