Collingwood was born on September 17th, 1869 in Madoc, Ontario, Canada.1   Collingwood's father was John Carman and his mother was Mary Jane Townsend/Carman.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Carman and Elizabeth Collingwood/Carman.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, John Henry, William, Charles, Libby, Mary Jane, Emmiline and Anne.  He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Archibald, Patrick and Rachael E..  He died at the age of 73 on November 13th, 1942 in Ontario, Canada.  His burial was in Eldorado, Ontario, Canada.1
