the reids of Avoca
years ago when i first started out i was asking my dad loads of different questions that he had no idea of the answers and he said to me that he knew a relation in Arklow by the name of Micky Kenny and that he would have some information. So off i go to visit this elderly man he has since died.  He told me that his father who was a son of Dennis Kenny had told him that when he was getting married his father had brought him in to Arklow and lodged nearly 100 pound in to his bank account for the deposit for his marital home and he also said that "next week i will show you where their are a load of sovereign coins buried in a tin on the land" but within this week Dennis was killed by the bull and the coins where never found at the time the Reid family had very little money and seemed to a very poor family, but Dennis eldest son James was entitled to the family home by laws at the time, James was an alcholic and put the house up for sale so he could get the money to drink and it was the reid family that bought the house from James so it was always thought that they had found the money on the land.
If you look back at the story that i sent you about Dennis Kenny being killed by the bull you will see that when he was found he had a receipt for a lodgement for nearly £100.
I think you told me that you had been in touch with Tony Kelly from Avoca tours and Fitzgerald pub? Tony would be from these reids that where at the mines
