In 2004, I finally dis-associated Martin from Thomas Kenny, my 3rd great grandfather.
It was hard to do because of compelling evidence such as some things written below, also the fact that they were RC and in the same parish .
I assumed Martin to be a brother to Thomas because at Martins death, Francis Hourigan was there as witness for the burial. Francis Hourigan was Mary Kenny's husband. Mary was daughter to Thomas, and therefore, probably Martin's niece. I would think Francis was there as a family representative. With Martin being a brother to Thomas was good news because Martin was remarried on June 14, 1864, and it shows his parents being Patrick Kenny and Julia O'Brian.
Martin owned land that is presently at the sight of a public school located at Hwy 15 and the 5th concession line road.
Martin owned a portion of lot 7, Concession 4. Martin bought land from Thomas Smyth in 1844. He acquires all 200 acres.
Smith Falls, Lombardy, Poonamalie settlements built a school on concession 4, Lot 7, owned my Martin Kenny.
Later, a new stone school was built near the old one, called Poonamalie School, Hwy 15 and the 5th line, purchased from Martin Kenny

In his obit, it stated the following;
"On Sunday last, another old time residence of the town passed away in the person of Martin Kenney. Deceased had been suffering for several months with sciatica and owing to his advanced years, he was unable to battle successfully with the malady. The greater portion of his years was spent at Poonamalie, but a few years ago he gave up his active duties of the farm for a quieter life in town and since, resided on Lombardy St. He was 82 yrs. Funeral took place on Tuesday morning and was a very large one."
Another source from my records in Smith Falls, shows Sept. 1, being when he died.
I have an entry in my Black notebook with my Smith falls records under my Passenger list:
Martin Kenney and wife Mary. 1823 7870 page 142 NY City Passenger list Manifest Index 1820-1824 david Samuelsen. Also in same book, same page, John.
This must be a different one.
I know that there was a Martin came across from the Carnew area and was on the FW tenant CD. # 663
They were Martin, Catherine, Pat 22, William 16, Denis 14, Owen 13, John 5, Catherine 7, Mary 17.
They came over in 1847. This was not the same Martin as the one that was in Smith Falls already.
This Martin ended up in the Barrie Ontario area.
Anne Burgess says, " Martin's parents were Denis Kenny and Marcella Doyle, we know from records of his marriage to Sarah Conners"

And Michael King who was a witness with Francis Hourigan to Martin Kenny's death: he came to Canada in 1840, a few years later he bought land from Smyth, the landowner of Smiths Falls, and he shared the land with...Martin Kenny.
