Maxwell was born on January 21st, 1923 in Ararat.  Maxwell's father was     Robert Henry PERRY and his mother was Ethal Florence ASTON.  His paternal grandparents were James (Jim) PERRY and Mary Ann HALL; his maternal grandparents were Henry James ASTON and Mary CROWLE. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George Henry, Robert James, Arthur, Ivy Victoria, Myrtle Florence and Olive Mary.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
