Isaac Davenport

Isaac was born in 1693 in Burlington County, NJ. Isaac's father was Francis Davenport and his mother was Rebbeca (Whitten) Decou. He was an only child. He died at the age of 56 in 1749 in Granville, NC.

- Isaac Davenport, father of Francis, was born in Burlington Co., NJ in 1693, the son of Francis Davenport, a devout Quaker immigrant who was a Sheriff of Burlington County and on the Council of Proprietors of West Jersey in the late 1600's, and serving one year as President of the Council, and his third wife, a widow, Mrs. Rebecca (Whitten) Decou. Isaac lost both of his parents when he was still in his teens and he later left Burlington County, settling briefly in the area of the Susquehanna River and then turning southward into the backcountry of Virginia in old Orange County. He moved in the early 1740's into Edgecombe Co., NC and was in Granville Co., NC when he died in 1749. All four of his sons later moved to what is now Newberry Co., SC. They were Joseph, Francis, Isaac, and William.
