Ana's father is Agapito Julio Xavier and her mother is Gertrudes Ferraz de Campos.  Her maternal grandparents were Antonio Ferraz de Campos and Ana Carolina Rodrigues. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Antonio, Baltazar, Pompílio, Afrodísio, Aída, Ermelinda, Leonor, Matilde and Alzira.
