Josep was born in 1829 in El Montmell. Josep's father was Francisco Colet Porta and his mother is Magdalena Bergalló. His paternal grandfather was Pau Colet Giró and his paternal grandmother is Francesca Porta. He had four brothers and a sister, named Pere, Jaume, Pau, Simeon and Rosa. Josep is no longer alive.-
