Janet was born on June 19th, 1745 in Old Machar, Aberdeen, Scotland.  Janet's father was James Wishart and her mother was Isobel Thomson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Wishart and Agnes Edward. She had three brothers and a sister, named Alexander, James, William and Isabel.  Janet and James were twins.
