Walter was born on May 2nd, 1885 in Grove Road, Fareham, Hants, England. Walter's father was Edward Treacher and his mother was Matilda Browning.  His maternal grandparents were George Browning and Ann Needle. He had four brothers and eight sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named David, Edwin, Samuel, John Henry, Matilda, Hannah Leah, Ruth Naomi, Ella Elizabeth, Florence Mary, Grace Browning, Esther, "Nellie" and Jesse.  He was the sixth youngest of the fourteen children.  He died at the age of 60 on December 2nd, 1945.  He was buried on December 8th, 1945 in Fareham Cemetrey, Hampshire, England.
