Robert was born in 1879 in Marton, Lancashire, England. Robert's father was John Singleton and his mother was Annie ElizabethSanderson . His paternal grandparents were Robert Singleton and Elizabeth Wilkinson. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Thomas, Mary Elizabeth and Annie. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 55 in 1934.-
