His paternal grandparents were Walter Ridgers and Unknown; his maternal grandparents were Charles Frederick Cookson and Constance Emily Gillett. He had two brothers named Ernest Frederick and Geoffrey Frank. He has a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ronald R and Sylvia Anne.-
