Ann was born in 1606 in Thornage, Norfolk, England.  Ann's father was Richard Girdlestone and her mother was Elizabeth Unknown.  Her paternal grandparents were No Name Girdlestone and Unknown. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Edmund and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
