William Brown 
William was born in 1868 in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. William's father was Henry Brown and his mother was Mary Gibb. His maternal grandparents were William Gibb and Elizabeth Anderson. He had two brothers and three sisters, named James, Henry, Elizabeth, Annie and Mary. He was the second oldest of the six children.
