Andrew was born on May 24th, 1707 in Kennoway, Fifeshire, Scotland. Andrew's father was David Beath and his mother was Elizabeth Black.  His paternal grandparents were William Beath and Jean Russal; his maternal grandparents were Robert Black and Unknown. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Robert, John, William, Jannett, David, Jean, Euphan and Agnes.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.
