Agnes' father was David Beath and her mother was Elizabeth Black.  Her paternal grandparents were William Beath and Jean Russal; her maternal grandparents were Robert Black and Unknown. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Robert, John, William, Andrew, Jannett, David, Jean and Euphan.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.
