Walter Stanley was born on April 3rd, 1881 in Middlesex, England. Walter Stanley's father was William George (S-O James) Balmer and his mother was Emily Turner. His paternal grandparents were James Balmer and Elizabeth Barnard. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named George John Walker, Henry Alfred, Percy Albert, Charles Maurice, Frederick William, Sydney Edward, Ernest Reginald, Emily Elizabeth Ann and Fanny Sarah. He was the second youngest of the ten children.-
