Catharine's father was Frederick Younkin and her mother was Elizabeth ? (Younkin). Her paternal grandparents were Frederick G Younkin and Maria Barbara Dieter. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Charles, Nicholas, Henry, Anna, Matilda, Hannah, Mary and Sarah. She was the youngest of the nine children.
