Joseph was born on June 25th, 1744 in Richland Township, Bucks county, Pennsylvania, USA.1   Joseph's father was Samuel Shaw Sr. and his mother was Mary Nixon (Shaw).  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Shaw and Deborah ? (Shaw); his maternal grandparents were William Nixon and Mary Pettit (Nixon). He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, William, Samuel, Moses, Hannah and Mary.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven known children.  He died at the age of 79 on October 3rd, 1823 in Washington, county.1

Joseph and Rachel were married in a religious & civil ceremony on June 4th, 1767 in Richland Township, Bucks county, Pennsylvania, USA.1   The family line is yet to be completed.
