Simon was born on March 4th, 1867 in Burgh near Aylsham, Norfolk.¹ Simon's father was Samuel Littlewood and his mother was Frances Riseborough. His paternal grandparents were Covey Littlewood and Elizabeth Wall; his maternal grandfather was John Riseborough. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, John, Charles, Elizabeth, Mary and Julia. He was the youngest of the seven children.
