William Hales

William was born in 1841.  William's father was George Hales and his mother was Frances Gowing.  His paternal grandparents were George Hales and Lucy Beaumont; his maternal grandparents were Henry Gowing and Judith Bowton. He had two brothers and five sisters, named George, Ephraim, Sophia, Susan, Elizabeth, Judith and Eliza.  He was the second youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named James and Lydia.
