Nechemia was born in 1878 in Drohobycz.  Nechemia's father was Moses Eliezer Kestenbaum and his mother was Zisel Meir.  His paternal grandfather is Avraham Aron Kestenbaum and his paternal grandmother was Scheindel Chane Meir. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Nachman, Avraham, Salomon, Yosef, Berl, Feige, Bracha, Tova Tauba and Sheindel Hanna .  He died in the Holocaust, He died in the Black Thursday - the Drohobyz Akzia, at the age of 65 in 1943 in Drohobycz.
