Died of a heart attack in Paddock, South Africa. He always wanted to "die with his boots on." Two days prior to his death he slaughtered a pig. At the time of his death he was waiting for the cows to come in for milking. He always attend to the milking. Klara was with him in the cowshed. At his memorial service he was referred to as "one of God's gentlemen."
General Notes
Had a good relationship with elder half brother Max. Often met at Potsdam, Berlin at home of cousin Hedwig (Ingrid Krüger's mother). Paul met Klara at Münster. They joined a youth movement (Back to Nature) at the time. Also joined a choral group. Lived in Memel (all in East Prussia). Came to South Africa in Aug 1935 on the ship "Wagoni". Paul's occupation was Trained Cofectioner in Germany. Turned to farming prior to marriage to Klara. Farmed in Germany and South Africa. Part time buiulding contracting helped when farming did not generate enough funds to feed the growing family..
