James was born in 1864 in Epwell, Oxfordshire.  James' father was John HUNT and his mother was Alice HUTT.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas HUNT and Maria <UNKNOWN>. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, Thomas, George, Jonathan, Frederick and Emma.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
