George was born in 1855 in Stratford-On-Avon, Warwickshire.¹ George's father was Samuel DUFFIN and his mother was Martha CALLAWAY. His paternal grandparents were John DUFFIN and Mary ROBBINS . He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Samuel, William, Eliza, Jane and Mary. He was the third youngest of the eight children.
