Rebecca 
Rebecca was born in 1817 in Cowfold and her baptism took place there on August 10th, 1817. Rebecca's father was Edward Steele and her mother was Lydia. Her maternal grandparents were Henry Gander and Elizabeth Harland. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Thomas, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sophie, Sarah and Lydia. She was the youngest of the eight children.General Notes
Rebecca married Henry Pooley by banns on 27 November 1851 in Cowfold. He was a bachelor and shoemaker and she a spinster. Their fathers were named as Peter Pooley and Edward Steele who were both farmers. The witnesses to their marriage were Thomas Pooley and Sarah Pooley.
