Матрона was born on March 11th, 1879.  Матрона's father was Павел Макариев Песоцкий and her mother was Анна Евменова (Песоцкая).  Her paternal grandparents were Макарий Никитин Песоцкий and Ирина Стефанова Сидоренко (Песоцкая). She had three brothers and three sisters, named Петр, Илларион, Филип, София, Агриппина  and Иоанн.  She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Стефан.
