Mary was born on July 12th, 1756.  Mary's father was Eliphalet Watson and her mother was Elizabeth Phinney.  Her paternal grandparents were Ebenezer Watson and Martha Rawlins; her maternal grandparents were Capt. John Phinney and Martha Colman. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Ebenezer, Colman, Eliphalet, James, Daniel, Martha, Susanna and Elizabeth.  She was the seventh oldest of the ten children.
