Martha was born on December 4th, 1743.  Martha's father was Eliphalet Watson and her mother was Elizabeth Phinney.  Her paternal grandparents were Ebenezer Watson and Martha Rawlins; her maternal grandparents were Capt. John Phinney and Martha Colman. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Ebenezer, Colman, Eliphalet, James, Daniel, Susanna, Elizabeth and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.
