Theodule was born in 1816.  Theodule's father was Joseph Mire and his mother was Clarisse Arceneaux.  His paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; his maternal grandparents were Pierre Arsenault and Elizabeth Fontenot. He had two brothers and eight sisters, named Dominique, Paul, Adelard, Claire, Marie, Elizabeth, Adelaide, Marguerite, Madeleline and Rosalie.  He was the third oldest of the eleven children.
