    born c1744, probably Pigiguit; son of Pierre LEMIRE dit  MIRE & his second wife Isabelle THIBODEAUX; twin brother of Simon, half-brother of Joachim dit Bénoni; on list of Acadian prisoners at Halifax, Aug 1763, with family of Beleaunie MIR?; arrived LA 1765, age 21, probably with brothers; in Cabanocé census, 1769, occupying lot number 132, left [east] bank, age 27[sic], listed singly so still a bachelor; in St.-Jacques census, 1777, left [east] bank, age 34, with family of half-brother Joachim dit Bénoni; probably moved to Baton Rouge district; married, age 42, Marie-Marguerite DAIGLE, daughter of Simon-Pierre DAIGLE & his first wife Marie-Madeleine THÉRIOT, 22 May 1786, probably Baton Rouge; died [buried] probably Fort Bute, Manchac, Baton Rouge district 20 Jan 1792, age 48
    
    Wall of Names, 23, calls him Joseph MIRE frere [of Joachim dit Bénoni]; BRDR, 2:548 (SGA-3, 16, #79), his death/burial record, calls him Joseph MIRE, does not give his parents' names or the name of his wife. 
    
    Though his death/burial was recorded at the St.-Gabriel church, he probably died at the southern edge of the Baton Rouge district, north of Bayou Manchac; there was no church at Baton Rouge until 1793, so priests from St.-Gabriel served the area around Fort Bute, just north of Bayou Manchac, which was part of the Baton Rouge district.

  • Joseph2 Mire (Pierre1 Lemire) was born Abt. 1742 in Pisiguit, Acadia, Canada, and died January 20, 1792 in St Gabriel St.James Parricidal.. He married Marie Marguerite Daigle May 22, 1786 in St.Gabrial of Iberville, daughter of Simon Daigle and Marie Theriot.
