Carmelite was born on January 7th, 1799.  Carmelite's father was Benjamin Mire and her mother was Marie Modesta Arceneaux.  Her paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Arsenault and Marie Bergeron. She had a sister named Rosalie.  She was the younger of the two children.
