William was born in 1783.  William's father was Joseph Birch and his mother was Janet Bowmaker Robertson.  His paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were James Robertson and Margaret Huggen (Birch). He had ten brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, James, Isaac, Caleb, Samuel, Jesse, Abraham, John, Jacob, Joseph, Ann and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 87 on October 18th, 1870.
