Leida's father was Karel Eduard Mettis and her mother was Emilie Adamson. Her maternal grandparents were Peter Adamson and Mari Plaks. She had a brother and three sisters, named Karl, Hilda Johanna, Elga and Eha. She died at the age of 89 on May 9th, 2004.
